WHY CHOOSE LYRIKOS?
Here are eight reasons to enroll at the best music studio in Grandview!
1. Students are trained to be well-rounded and creative musicians
We believe that each student has their own unique musical voice, no matter what age or stage (hence the studio title, Lyrikos!). It’s important to Ms. Holly that she meets the student where they are in terms of learning style, goals, and interests, and she strives to teach students the four pillars of musical artistry: literacy, technique, performance, and theory. We stick to a well-rounded curriculum of classical, pop, jazz, and world music, and even spend time composing and improvising songs.
2. An experienced instructor for your musical journey
Ms. Holly has over a decade of experience as a music teacher, performer, collaborator, and lecturer. She holds a Master of Music degree in piano performance and pedagogy from Ohio University, where she studied with Katherine Fisher, the creator of the internationally acclaimed Piano Safari music method—one she still uses today! She is also a long-time member of the Music Teachers National Association and is a certified Royal Conservatory of Music instructor.
3. Performance opportunities and group classes offered throughout the year
Students get to share the music they have been working on and build camaraderie with their classmates at Ms. Holly's group performance classes, which are held in mid-October and February of each year. Our main recitals take place at the end of October and at the beginning of March before Spring Break. Additionally, students may have the opportunity to perform at retirement centers and local cafes in the area when it is safe to do so. Students may also participate in adjudicated events through the local Music Teachers National Association, or opt to take tests as part of the “honors track” Royal Conservatory of Music program.
4. Conveniently located in north Columbus
Lyrikos is located in the heart of the Fifth by Northwest Columbus area, just 10 minutes away from the Ohio State University and easily accessible by Route 33 and 315-North.
5. Affordable tuition rates and discounts
Tuition starts at just $34 per lesson for 30-minute piano lessons, with discounts available for paying quarterly or yearly. You can also receive a $45 credit towards any amount of tuition payment when referring another student to enroll at Lyrikos.
6. Quality instruments
Students play on a beautiful vintage, restored Steinway O grand piano as well as a Kawai ES-100 keyboard with electronic specifications that allow for musical exploration and creativity. They also have access to the incredible grand pianos at the Graves Piano & Organ recital space.
7. Safe protocols during the Coronavirus pandemic
At Lyrikos, we are taking every precaution necessary to protect the health and well-being of our students as our music-making continues in the fall. Students and parents can choose to have either online or in-person lessons during the 2024-2025 school year. Short breaks have been scheduled between lessons to disinfect the instruments and studio space, and Ms. Holly will be wearing a mask and staying six feet apart from students and parents in-person in accordance with medical guidelines.
8. Not another music school chain
Some music school chains in the area provide services to hundreds of students with impersonal administration and little vetting of teacher experience. Teachers stay for only a few years, and student retention dwindles as a result of all the transitions from instructor to instructor. Not us! You work with one qualified teacher who is permanently in the area, and handles all scheduling, billing, media—and of course, excellent personalized instruction.
